About Me
Paula Morgan was born and raised on a dairy farm in the Midwest. During her years on the farm, she showed cattle, participated in 4-H, and FFA, played in volleyball, ran in track, sang in choir, played in drama, among other extracurricular activities. She had a pony named Snoopy, whom she often set out on little adventures riding bare back with no bridle. Following her high school graduation she left for Basic Training at Ft. McClellan, AL. She completed her Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Gordon, GA., graduated as a distinguished honor graduate, and served in the Army National Guard from 1987-1991 where she performed her duties in Signal Communications as a Tactical Telecommunication Operator. The military then upgraded to new equipment, which called for additional training as a Mobile Subscriber Equipment Operator, and maintained a security clearance. In 1990 her unit was called up in support of Operation Desert Storm, but never deployed.
Then she went on active duty in Army Aviation from 1991-1995. Her primary duties were as an Avionics Mechanic working on numerous aircraft within the Army, to include the CH-47 Chinook. She served one tour of duty overseas in South Korea at Camp Humphreys. During her time in South Korea, she spent a week at the Cheju Do Training Center, rock climbing, and rappelling. Once she returned to the states, she was stationed at Ft. Polk, LA and Ft. Hood, TX. During her entire military career, she maintained a security clearance, and obtained special skill identifiers such as OH58D Kiowa Scout Helicopter, W%, and W6, Air Survivability Equipment (ASE), for specific work assignments. After she was honorably discharged she continued to serve as an Army wife, voluntarily working alongside other wives in coordinating for the overall wellbeing of families, planning activities, and addressing critical needs to include military funerals.
Once her husband retired his service to the military, his desire was to remain in aviation, while she engaged in the education sector, completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Programming, and a dual Master’s degree in Human Resources Development and Computer Resources and Information Management. She worked as an Adjunct Professor teaching Adult Education classes in GED, College and Career Transitions, ESL, and Citizenship classes. In 2019 she took steps to actively reengage with the veteran community as a volunteer with GallantFew. Through this process she was able to successfully locate a former veteran she served with in Ft. Hood, TX.
In 2020 she planned to focus to work independently as a writer under the name Morgan Trails, LLC, to capture the many lost stories of military veterans so they may leave a legacy to their family. However, unforeseen circumstances during 2020, forced her to ‘flip the deck’, and engage the veteran community through the nonprofit. She can think of no better way to honor those which have gone before others than to dedicate her time and efforts to a veteran nonprofit committed to helping others live improved lives. The support of Twin Rotors Mission® has been humbling. She has been married to her husband, an Army Aviation veteran, since 1994, has two adult children, and one grandchild. Four legged rescued friends include 2 dogs, Serenity and Harley, and one sassy feline, named Liesel.
